How Botox works in your 20s, 30s and 40s

A common solution for unwanted lines and wrinkles, many patients are now incorporating Botox into their anti-ageing regime from the age of 20. But are there different rules depending on what decade you’re in? Here’s what you need to know about Botox in your 20s, 30s and 40s.

20s – used for prevention

There has been an increase in the number of people in their 20s undergoing Botox as a form of age prevention. If you’re considering this, you should bear in mind that a smaller amount of Botox should be used purely to train your facial muscles. It’s common for the substance to be injected more superficially in patients of this age so it doesn’t penetrate skin as deeply.

30s – used to soften fine lines

When you reach your 30s, you may start to notice the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. Botox can be used every three months to soften fine lines and in some cases erase them completely. Many patients choose to have repeat treatments every six months to rejuvenate the appearance of their skin.

40s – used to reduce lines and wrinkles

During your 40s, lines are more obvious and wrinkles tend to be deeper. Botox is useful to help relax contracted facial muscles, giving way to reduced lines and wrinkles. It should be administered every three months for optimum results. If you experience loss of volume, you may wish to consider a course of Dermal Fillers to restore youth to your complexion.
