How to achieve flawless skin in your thirties

Everyone knows that skin can become worse with age – but there’s no need to write yours off when you reach your thirties. You’re probably already au fait with the basics and you strictly abide to your cleanse, tone, moisturise routine, and always remove makeup before bed. But is there anything else you can do to achieve that coveted flawless complexion?

  • Wear SPF every day

Did you know that UV rays can penetrate your skin on a cloudy day? They can even damage your skin through a glass window so it’s vital that you wear an SPF daily. But it’s not just sun damage this can ward off. When you reach the age of 30, you may well be thinking about starting a family, and pregnancy hormones may leave you with Melasma – a dark skin discolouration caused by hormones. Applying SPF daily can help to prevent unwanted pigmentation.

  • Reduce your alcohol consumption

A glass of wine a day can be good for your health but experts recommend cutting down your intake once you hit your thirties to prevent developing ‘wine face’ (lines either side of your nose). The high sugar content of alcohol can also contribute to enlarged pores and sagging skin. Replace alcohol with water to flush the toxins from your skin.

  • Manage oil and Acne with salicylic acid

The last thing you want in your thirties is spots – and if you’re regularly breaking out, try incorporating a face wash containing salicylic acid into your regime. This will cut through excess oil and leave you with clear, blemish-free skin.

  • Don’t neglect your neck

When moisturising your face, remember to include your neck and d├ęcolletage to prevent signs of premature ageing in these areas. No matter how youthful your face looks, a crepey neck will betray your true age.

  • Look after your hands

Our hands go through a lot of wear and tear on a daily basis so it’s important to take good care of them. Invest in a cream containing SPF and apply after you wash your hands to prevent wrinkles and sun spots.
