How to prepare for Rhinoplasty surgery
15 January 2015
If youâre considering undergoing Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) surgery, there are certain steps you can take to ensure you are fully prepared:
- Consultation. Before you do anything, remember to book a consultation with a specialist to find out whether or not the surgery is right for your needs. This will also give you the chance to ask any questions you may have relating to the surgery itself or the aftercare procedures.
- Examination. Your Cosmetic Surgeon will take a closer inspection of the area around your nose to see what changes should be made during the procedure. You should be fully open with your Cosmetic Surgeon about your medical history â if you have nasal obstruction or a history of breathing problems then this could affect how successful the procedure is.
- Stop smoking. Youâll be asked to not smoke before you have surgery. This will help to reduce the risk of infection as well as increase the speed of the healing process.
- Make arrangements for post-surgery. As Rhinoplasty involves anaesthesia, it is wise to arrange for a loved one or a friend to drive you home after surgery. It would be helpful if someone could stay with you for up to two days following the procedure to assist you with your day-to-day needs while you recover.
