The Scottish capital Edinburgh will be host to the 12th annual European Plastic Surgery Congress. This will be the first time an international conference on cosmetic surgery has been held in the UK for over 50 years.Conference & Incentive Travel reports that the bid was won by the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) in association with Congrex UK. Both organisations will use local committees to manage the event, which will be held in Edinburgh in 2014 and is expected to attract 1,000 international delegates from the field of plastic surgery, including many of the world's leading cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons. The winning bidders used Edinburgh's historical offerings as a reason for the city to host the event, which attract thousands of tourists each year. Edinburgh was also chosen for its accessibility and major transport links, including Edinburgh Airport and Waverley railway station. The city's state-of-the-art conference venues were also a major attraction, with the event being held in the modern Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Krystina Snaith, account manager at Congrex UK, is hopeful that the highly anticipated event will attract more delegates from the cosmetic surgery industry than any previous event, beating all existing records. She stated: "This is a prestigious congress to organise and we are delighted to work with the association and the Edinburgh city partners from the outset, through the bidding process and to what we very much hope will be a highly successful event that will attract a record attendance."
