Woman having laser hair removal on upper lipHair Reduction is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments in the United States, according to Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr Emily Peterson. It rests among other common cosmetic anxieties such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, blemishes and facial spider veins. She explained that the majority of the above concerns are treated with lasers or IPL (intense pulsed light). Although both treatments are similar, patients may be recommended one over the other as a result of lifestyle, skin type or the type of condition needing to be treated.IPL involves using multiple lengths of light rays of varying intensity to treat a number of skin conditions. Laser treatment however uses just the one continuous light wavelength, making it stronger than IPL. Laser treatment stimulates the production of collagen and removes the outer layers of damaged skin. The Cosmetic Surgeon maintained that patients should book a consultation and skin examination prior to agreeing upon an effective treatment, which should be advised by the expert. She concluded: Its also important that you be open and honest with your physician about the results you want to achieve, so that the treatment experience can be pleasant and enjoyable.
