200402641-001Brow lift procedures are growing in popularity among females in their 20s in Dubai – but line and wrinkle injectables are still sitting pretty at the top of the pile. According to recent statistics, thousands of females and hundreds of males spent their time and money priming their looks last year. Other popular procedures include chemical peeling and permanent hair removals.Figures obtained from Dubai Health Authority show 77,344 skin care treatments were performed in the private healthcare sector in 2012. “We are seeing a demand for eyebrow lifts and side elevation among females in their 20s in Dubai,” said Dr Qassim Ahli, consultant plastic surgeon at Rashid Hospital in the emirate. He added that most of these are meant to enhance beauty but warned procedures were not for teenagers. “[Injectables work] on wrinkles by relaxing the muscles responsible for expression lines and teenagers do not have wrinkles. They may have facial expression lines, but there is a vast difference between that and wrinkles. [Treatment] can start in your late 20s and this depends on your skin type.” In 2012 alone, at least 3,176 Emirati and 2,050 expatriate females underwent chemical peeling procedures.
