Male grooming guide: facial serums
The male grooming market has really taken off in the last few years, with more men than ever before investing time and money into skincare. While the majority of men are au fait with using face creams, when it comes to serums, many are still in the dark.
So what exactly is a serum and how can it be used to your advantage?
Serums help to moisturise and hydrate your skin. They absorb into your skin faster than creams, they’re more lightweight and they can penetrate deeper – getting to the root of the problem faster and more effectively.
Highly concentrated, you only need a pea-sized amount to cover the entire face. For optimum results, serums should be applied after cleansing but before moisturising.
If you have dry skin…
Serums are the ideal product for those with dry skin – and can help to hydrate where moisturisers can’t. Not sure which one to buy? Look for a serum that can penetrate deep into the skin and contains ultra-hydrating ingredients.
If you have oily skin…
It’s all too easy to assume that a serum will negatively impact oily skin. Look out for a formula that’s designed to hydrate but won’t add to your skin’s sebum levels. Non-comedogenic serums will prevent your pores from becoming blocked.
If you have fine lines and wrinkles…
For Anti-Ageing benefits, look for a serum that offers intense hydration as well as wrinkle-reducing properties. Serums containing natural ingredients such as plant extracts can help to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as dark circles and puffiness.
