Men need to be better educated about cosmetic treatments, says skin expert

It’s no secret that treatments for men are on the up but according to one skin expert, while more men than ever are showing an interest in improving their appearance, they still greatly lack knowledge and understanding of which treatments are right for them.
Washington D.C. based Dermatologist Terrence Keaney said: “Younger men have grown up taking ‘selfies’ and seeing photos of themselves in social media. They don’t see a taboo in treatments, and they understand the importance of maintaining their youthful look.”
Where they lack knowledge however, is when it comes to the treatments themselves. Compared to their female counterparts, who can readily request the name of the treatment they require, men are less aware of what is available – and a large part of that is due to advertising being aimed at women.
According to Keaney, it’s the job of the experts as well as the media to educate men properly on the treatments available to them.
Would having a better understanding make more men inclined to undergo treatments? Send us a tweet with your thoughts.
