Non-surgical procedures jump as patients put emphasis on minimum downtime

Americans are increasingly considering booking an appointment for a Skin Peel, Medical Microdermabrasion or other type of facial as an indulgence rather than a medical treatment, which is driving the continued growth in their popularity. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) says that the number of such non-surgical treatments carried out was many times greater than the number of Facelifts. "If there's one thing today that people love more than ever, it's having plenty of choices; that attitude definitely includes cosmetic procedures," Dr John T Alexander II, a Cosmetic Surgeon based in San Diego, California, told Non-surgical Facial Rejuvenation treatments, which can be applied in under an hour, can produce visible results in a matter of days, therefore are increasingly being seen as a "nice break from a stressful week, plus improving your appearance at the same time," Dr Alexander added. Once they are convinced of the effectiveness of such non-surgical treatments, many patients go on to undergo more involved Cosmetic Surgical procedures, he also noted. "It's almost like non-surgical rejuvenation procedures are the training wheels to help patients prepare for surgery down the road," said Dr Alexander.
