As she stepped out yesterday to celebrate becoming an octogenarian, Petula Clarke looked remarkably youthful. And the singer, whose career spans eight decades, admitted that she has undergone "a little" surgical treatment during her career.Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said the procedure had been carried out a long time ago, and added: "I dont intend going there again. But you never know." She put her age-defying looks mainly down to "good genes", but also said: "I eat well with a glass of wine now and then, walk a lot, love and laugh a lot, and make music. And thats about it." After her early start in the music business, Clark went on to become one of the most successful British female recording artists in history, selling more than 68 million records worldwide and a enjoying number one hits including This Is My Song. She also earned the distinction of becoming the first British female singer to achieve an American number one, with Downtown. However, the grandmother of two has no plans to put her feet up, the Mail reported, and her next album is planned for release in February.
