Salma Hayek talks of her struggles with skin acne
“I had acne, and this acne was so bad it sent me into a severe, severe depression.” This was the frank opening statement from actress Salma Hayek in the May issue of Lucky magazine. The 45-year-old from Mexico, who is known for her roles in hit films Frida and Grown Ups, revealed that she “couldn’t leave the house” because of her severe skin acne, and that she would “wake up in the morning and lie there and touch my face before I got up, just to prepare myself to look in the mirror”.As a result of her skin condition, Hayek admits to turning to food to deal with her situation, and found herself putting on weight until she saw herself as “fat and broken out”. Despite getting her acne under control, she revealed that she likes to eat and doesn’t like to exercise, meaning it is a struggle for her to stay in shape. “I’m always on the edge of how much can I eat without looking too — you know,” she confessed. “If I eat something salty, it makes me want something sweet. I eat something sweet, then I want salty. And exercise is not my thing, though I do it." See the original story in the May issue of Lucky magazine.
