Six habits to avoid for flawless looking skin

Do you spend lots of money every month on miracle products to improve the appearance of your skin, only to find you’re still experiencing the same issues? Well the problem may not be your skincare products; it could be down to bad habits. Here’s what to avoid doing if you want flawless skin.

·         Salt

Reduce your intake of salt-laden foods to see a noticeable improvement in your skin. Consuming too much salt can sap your skin of moisture, leaving it looking dull and dry. Drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins and keep your skin hydrated and smooth from the inside out.

·         Frowning

Remember when your mum told you not to frown because your face would stay that way? In a way, she was right. Too much frowning or squinting can accelerate the ageing process, leading to unwanted lines and wrinkles.

·         Alcohol

While the odd glass of wine or pint of beer here and there is fine, consuming excessive quantities of alcohol leads to dehydration. This loss of your skin’s natural moisture can cause dry skin and leaves you more susceptible to developing lines and wrinkles.

·         Hot showers

A long, hot shower at the end of the day sounds like bliss doesn’t it? While relaxing, having a hot shower regularly can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it dull, dry and lifeless. Turn down the heat and look forward to beautiful skin.

·         Sleeping in makeup

It can be tempting to leave your face full of makeup after a long, tiring day – but doing so can cause clogged pores, leading to unwanted breakouts. It’s a good idea to keep a handy pack of makeup remover wipes by your bedside for those nights when you just can’t be bothered.

·         Over-plucking

Plucking your eyebrows daily with tweezers can often lead to ingrown hairs, causing inflammation spots and redness. Prevent this by placing a clean, hot towel over your face before plucking. This will open up your pores, making it easier to remove unwanted hairs. Apply a soothing aloe vera gel post-plucking to prevent unwanted redness.
