Skin Care tips for a glowing complexion, even in winter
24 November 2015
The dramatic change in temperature in the winter can wreak havoc on your skin. Biting winds combined with hot showers and central heating can leave your skin feeling dry and irritated. But don’t give up hope just yet. Read on for our top winter skin care tips to leave you with a glowing complexion, no matter how low the temperature drops.
- Moisturiser is essential
Do you ever notice your skin feeling tight in the winter? The cold weather can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it prone to breakouts and making fine lines look more pronounced. All of that can be fixed by applying moisturiser regularly throughout the day to keep your skin soft and supple.
- You still need sunscreen
You might think that the lack of sunshine in winter means that you can put your bottle of sunscreen to the back of the cupboard until summer. In fact, the ozone layer (which filters sunlight) is actually at its thinnest during the winter months which leaves you susceptible to windburn – which can be even more damaging than sunburn. Be sure to apply sunscreen daily to protect your skin from premature wrinkles.
- Look at the ingredients
You don’t have to fork out half your monthly earnings on effective skin products. A quick look at the ingredients label can tell you all you need to know. Look out for skin-firming ingredients such as collagen, as well as salicylic and glycolic acid to tackle and prevent unwanted blemishes. For a refreshed complexion and even skin tone, vitamin C can help.
