Spring sees cosmetic surgery blooming
With the summer bikini weather being mere months away, many people are choosing spring as the perfect time to have cosmetic surgery ready to show off their beach bodies - especially in the image-conscious celebrity world.Speaking to StyleList, plastic surgeon Robert Rey - better known as Dr 90210 - explained that the spring season is a favourite time for celebrities to undergo plastic surgery treatments, leaving plenty of time for recovery before the summer holidays. It can also be the first chance for many to escape the public eye, following the six-month-long awards season that spans September to March, incorporating such high-profile events as the Grammys, Emmys and Oscars attracting the biggest names in showbiz. "Having surgery in March or April will give celebrities the chance to be healed for bikini season," Dr Rey said. "We’re seeing more celebrities wanting breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks and fat transfer to the buttocks right now." Another cosmetic surgeon, Dr David Bank, agreed, revealing: "We see a spike in treatments post-awards season when people have more downtime and don't have so many events, parties, and industry gatherings to attend daily." During the rest of the year, when public appearances are more in demand, the surgeons explained that celebrities tend to favour non surgical treatments that can be carried out quickly and conveniently, with a short recovery time. "Actresses will tweak themselves with minor procedures like fillers, Botox, Dysport, Juvederm, laser hair removal and other treatments," Dr Rey said.
