Procedures which allow people to get rid of small areas of fat which diet or exercise won't shift are the most popular around the world, according to a new report by a leading professional body. The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery says that lipoplasty accounts for one in five procedures carried out, while the United States, China, Brazil, Italy and Japan are the countries in which the largest number of procedures take place.Almost 1,000 of the society's members worldwide volunteered information about the number and types of procedures they performed in 2011. They said that a close second most popular procedure was breast augmentation, which accounted for almost 19 per cent of all treatments. Completing the top five of popular treatments were blepharoplasty, or eyelid modifications, abdominoplasty, more widely known as tummy tucks, rhinoplasty nose reshaping and breast lifts. Article author Stephanie Wasek noted that the results only took into account procedures carried out by professionally accredited plastic surgeons.
