The skin is your body’s biggest organ, and so, while showing it a little love from the outside, with a comprehensive beauty regime, will make a big difference to its appearance, you also need to nurture it from the inside, with a healthy, nutritious diet.
So which are the best foods to eat for a glowing complexion? Celebrity health and wellness coach Maria Marlowe has revealed the foods she advises her famous clients to fill up on.
Her list of vitamin-packed skin saviours includes:
Avocado – a great source of biotin, Vitamin A and healthy fats, avocado helps prevent blemishes and keeps the skin supple.
Pumpkin seeds – recommended for their anti-inflammatory properties, which can stop blemishes from looking so red and angry, as well as Omegas 3, 6 and 9. Pumpkin seeds are also a good source of zinc, a mineral known to stimulate cell growth.
Flax seeds - similarly to pumpkin seeds, flax seeds have skin benefitting anti-inflammatory properties and plenty of Omega 3.
Hemp seeds – as well as Omega 3, hemp seeds are a healthy source of protein and amino acids, the ingredients for strong hair, nails, muscle and skin.
Radish – packed with a nutritious trio of silicon, Vitamin C and sulphur, radishes help to brighten the skin by boosting collagen production and blood circulation.
Leafy green veg – the darker the better when it comes to green veggies. A natural multi-vitamin, green vegetables like kale and watercress are an excellent source of skin loving Vitamins A and C as well as sulphur.
Melon – packed with water, melon is a great hydration boost, as well as being full of Vitamin C.
