Sophie Tweedale speaks to three women who were given plastic surgery as a yuletide present MY EYE LIFT GIVES ME SO MUCH PLEASURE' Debra Koseoglu, 44, is a youth worker from Hastings. She was given an upper eye lift as a Christmas present by her husband Mustafa two years ago In the five years before I had the surgery, my eyelids had become so droopy that I'd started to feel incredibly self-conscious about my appearance. Finally I'd had enough and went to my GP to inquire about the possibility of getting treatment on the NHS but he told me I'd have to wait until my lids had completely obscured my eyes before I'd qualify for an operation. I've always had a very honest relationship with Mustafa and he knew how much I hated my droopy eyes. About a month before Christmas, I jokingly mentioned that all I wanted from Santa was a new pair of eyes. I remember Mustafa frowning and then saying: "I that's what you really want, why don't you let me treat you to surgery for Christmas this year?" I was so ecstatic that I just leapt up and hugged him. The surgery cost about "2,500, which we couldn't really afford, but Mustafa said he'd take out a loan. The next day, I started to do my research and finally booked my surgery with The Harley Medical Group. I had the operation a fortnight later and was delighted when Mustafa offered to come with me to the clinic. The procedure itself took only 45 minutes under local anaesthetic and was remarkably simple. The surgeon took out a small oval piece of skin from each lid and then sewed them back together again. By Christmas Eve I was back at the clinic having my stitches removed. I was so excited when I woke up on Christmas Day. I wasn't really supposed to wear make-up for a few days after the stitches were taken out but I couldn't resist. And as I put my mascara on before our guests arrived, I felt so happy. It was like looking at the old me from 20 years ago. I had told only close family about the operation, as I wanted to keep it a surprise from everyone else. It was such a thrill when my closest friends told me how fantastic I looked at a party on Boxing Day. I can't describe the pleasure that my new eyes gave me. In fact, the surgery was such a perfect present that I'm hoping Mustafa will buy me a chin lift this Christmas! Read more about eyebag removal procedures and our cosmetic surgery guide.
