Many factors influence this process, including genes, but exposure to the sun has been found to have a significant ageing affect, plastic surgeon Christopher Inglefield stated. This is why so many women do not begin to notice the effects of sun exposure until autumn, leading to the increase in the purchase of anti-ageing products. “We know UVA and UVB rays can burn the surface of the skin and, on a deeper level, speed up the breakdown of the youth-enhancing collagen and elastin that give skin its springy quality,” Mr Inglefield added.
