Women choosing pampering treatments to escape World Cup fever
16 June 2010It's not that I hate the game or anything, but right now it seems as though the world has gone into football meltdown - and I'm getting a little tired of it! The actual games are one thing, I quite enjoy those, especially if I'm watching them with a big group of friends, but all the adverts and fuss are another. Also, I say I don't mind watching the matches, but there's a limit to the number I can cope with before I get bored - and talkative! You can bet the talkative part doesn't go down too well with my footie-loving friends, but at least I know I'm not the only one who's having that problem. Here at Harley Medical, we saw a big increase in the number of non-surgical treatments such as skin peels and wrinkle relaxing injections booked last weekend as women sought to escape World Cup fever and enjoy a little pamper time instead. The same thing happened four years ago, during the last cup, so it's pretty clear what's going on here! However, it was nice to find out that lots of men were actively encouraging their partners to get out of the house, as well as making sure they were enjoying relaxing trips, pamper sessions or girl days out - even offering to pay for them sometimes. Wow, the things people will do for some uninterrupted football-watching! It's not just women whose partners have asked for some peace and quiet that have been booking extra treatments though, there are plenty more who're simply looking to boost their feel-good factor when the world seems to be going football mad around them.
