Would You Go Make-Up Free at the Gym?

When you go to the gym, do you make sure that you put on a full face of make-up, put on the bare minimum or go completely natural? It’s an interesting debate and one that certainly gets people talking, especially with so many celebrities sharing pictures of themselves putting in the miles on the treadmill or working up a sweat with the weights on their social media pages.

The likes of Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Aniston, Kaley Cuoco and Taylor Swift are all well-known for their love of posting workout pictures and videos on their profiles; and many do so ensuring that they look their best even after working up a sweat.

Recently, some experts have stated that you are actually better off going to the gym with NO make-up on. This is so that the body can sweat and regulate temperature, without the pores getting clogged by make-up.

If that just isn’t an option for you and you can’t be seen in public without the bare minimum amount of make-up on, then there are still a number of options that you can try to look your best and still get the maximum number of health and beauty benefits from hitting the gym:

  • Waterproof mascara. If you’re going to work up a sweat, and wear make-up, then you want to make sure that it isn’t going to run! The only thing that should be running during your workout is you, so apply a light coating of waterproof mascara to your eyes before working out.
  • Light, oil-free foundation. The reason that a lot of people opt to wear make-up everywhere they go is to avoid the “washed out” look. If this is you, then a very light and natural foundation will help you to look great even when you’re working hard in the gym.
  • Tinted moisturiser. Another option is to apply your usual moisturiser, but one that is tinted to give your skin a natural glow. This is a great alternative to foundation, and it has the added benefits of looking after your skin during your workout
