I was, and still am to some extent, looking forward to my surgery after meeting my consultant in Leeds who filled me with such confidence. However, at my pre-op appointment in my local clinic in Newcastle I learned that the Newcastle clinic is closing and I will need to travel to Leeds for all of my follow up appointments.
It is not the unforeseen closure of the clinic, which I appreciate may have happened through no fault of the clinic but the way in which it has been managed, which has caused my disappointment.
I do not feel that it was at all appropriate to receive this news from the poor nurse at my pre-op appointment. Surely, the professional approach would have been to write to all patients affected by this and to clearly explain their options. The nurse told me that if I wanted to cancel I would receive a full refund and if I wanted to go ahead I would be reimbursed for my travelling expenses. None of this has been confirmed nor do I know if the company will also cover my husbands travel expenses as he will be attending appointments with me or what the process is for claiming any refund.
I have no desire to start this process again with another company, especially as I was so impressed with Dr Sleiter but I am very disappointed by the way in which the company has handled this sensitive situation....
