Brow Lift Surgery

As we age, it is common for the skin above our eyes to start to sag and droop, which can lead to the development of “hooded” eyes, making them appear tired and causing your face to look old. Brow Lift surgery can help by lifting up the area above your eye, opening up the whole of your eye area and making your face look younger. The main benefits offered by this procedure include: increased self-confidence and self-esteem, more youthful and rejuvenated look, greater symmetry of the forehead and eyebrows. Although Brow Lift surgery is generally undertaken for cosmetic reasons, sagging brows can have a negative effect on your vision, and this procedure can be an easy, quick way to solve this.

An increasing number of men are undergoing Brow Lift surgery to give their face a more rejuvenated appearance, helping them to keep up with fierce competition in the workplace. There are two types of Brow Lift surgery, Open and Endoscopic. Your facial structure, hairline and skin condition determine which technique is used. This procedure takes around two hours to complete and requires an overnight stay in hospital. You should expect it to take between 10 and 14 days to recover from Brow Lift surgery. It is quite common for Brow Lift patients to also undergo Eye Bag Removal (or, Blepharoplasty) surgery, in order to really open up the whole eye area and create a more youthful look.

Blepharoplasty (Eye Bag Removal surgery)

The natural ageing process can have a dramatic effect on your face, in particular the skin around your eyes, which can start to get loose and sag, adding years to your face. Eye Bag Removal (Blepharoplasty) surgery involves removing the excess skin from above and below the eye to help you regain a youthful look. It can also smooth the appearance of wrinkles at the corners of your eyes (otherwise known as crow’s feet). The procedure is suitable for both men and women, with our male patients noticing that Blepharoplasty is one of the simplest ways to help reverse the common signs of ageing.

The procedure takes between one and three hours in total, with recovery time varying, depending on whether you opt to have surgery on your upper lids, lower lids, or both. You can keep bruising and swelling to a minimum post-surgery by holding ice packs over your eyes. Your Cosmetic Surgeon will usually also advise you to book between one and two weeks off work in order to allow you to fully recover.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Reshaping)

As the nose is such a prominent facial feature, it can have a negative effect on your self-esteem and self-confidence if you are not happy with it. Whether you dislike the nose you were born with, or it has become misshapen due to an injury, Rhinoplasty (Nose Reshaping) surgery can be an effective solution. In addition to being performed for cosmetic reasons, Rhinoplasty can also be useful for correcting breathing issues and alleviating the symptoms of sleep apnoea.

Our Rhinoplasty patients enjoy increased levels of self-confidence and self-esteem, helping them to feel happy with their appearance. In fact, it’s our second most popular Cosmetic Surgery procedure among our male patients. The operation takes a total of two hours to complete and is carried out under general anaesthetic, which means you’ll be required to stay in hospital overnight. Whether you opt to change the size or shape of your nose, you will not have to worry about scars, as they will be well hidden in the nostril crease. After the operation, you will be required to wear a small plaster dressing for up to 10 days to help stabilise your new nose shape and protect it from any accidental knocks.

Otoplasty (Ear Reshaping)

Ear Reshaping surgery (also known as Ear Pinning and Otoplasty) is a common surgical procedure which involves reducing the size and reshaping the ears and their positioning. It is generally undertaken by patients who have low self-confidence due to the size or position of their ears and offers benefits which include boosted self-esteem and a wider choice of hairstyles.

The procedure itself is very straightforward and takes between two and three hours in total. Otoplasty involves the Cosmetic Surgeon making discreet incisions behind the ears so as to minimise visible scarring. If you wish to reduce the size of your ears, the Cosmetic Surgeon will remove some skin and reshape the underlying cartilage before stitching the ears and bandaging them. As the operation is simple, recovery time is also fairly short, with patients needing to wear a bandage around the head for a week afterwards to ensure that the ears are protected from any knocks and infection. The stitches will be removed after this time and results will be immediately visible.

Chin Implants

When you first meet people, your face is usually the first thing they notice. That’s why it can be so difficult if you feel insecure about a particular facial feature. Cheek and Chin Implants are a common way of adding fullness to the cheeks and can be used to give a better balance and proportion to your face as a whole. This Cosmetic Surgery procedure is often performed in conjunction with a Face Lift, Rhinoplasty or any other Facial surgery to help patients feel confident and happy with their appearance.

As it is a desired attribute for men to have a chiselled and strong jawline, we find that many of our Chin Implant patients are male. This type of procedure is straightforward, requiring no overnight stay in hospital. It takes around 45 minutes to complete and involves the Cosmetic Surgeon making a small incision underneath the chin and inside the mouth, and inserting the implant to achieve the desired result. You will generally be advised to take up to two weeks off work following surgery in order for your cheeks and chin to fully recover. If the operation was performed inside the mouth, you should avoid hot or spicy foods and wash your mouth frequently with an anti-bacterial mouthwash.

Face Lift

Many people choose to reverse the signs of ageing with the help of Cosmetic Surgery, and a Face Lift, or Rhytidectomy, is one of the most commonly requested procedures by both men and women to help smooth their skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the overall appearance of the face. It’s viewed by men as more important than ever to remain youthful-looking, an attribute which helps specifically in the workplace. That said, Face Lifts are equally popular with women too.

Face Lift surgery can be performed in one of three ways: traditional, minimal access cranial suspension (MACS) and keyhole surgery, and your Cosmetic Surgeon will give you advice about which method is best suited to your circumstance. Recovery time can vary depending on the method which is used; however, you should find that you are able to resume your normal daily routine after 14 days, with stitches removed between seven and 14 days following surgery. Many of our patients choose to undergo Neck Lift surgery in conjunction with a Face Lift to give an overall rejuvenated appearance, with some claiming to look 10 years younger following surgery.

Neck Lift

For many people, the first signs of ageing are noticeable around their neck and along the jaw line. As we get older, our skin loses its elasticity and starts to sag. This is where a Neck Lift (or Platysmaplasty) can help. The procedure involves removing loose or excess skin to leave a smoother, wrinkle-free neck and jaw line. Although effective on its own in restoring youthfulness, this procedure is often combined with a Face Lift to create an overall younger appearance.

Neck Lift surgery takes around two to three hours in total, during which the Cosmetic Surgeon will make a number of small incisions behind the ears and in the hairline, allowing the loose skin to be stretched and trimmed before being stitched into its new position. Recovery usually takes up to 14 days and patients should expect to see localised swelling and some bruising immediately after the operation, which should ease within the first two weeks to reveal younger and smoother-looking skin on the neck and jaw line. You will generally be advised to take up to two weeks off work following surgery to allow for full recovery.

Each of these Facial Cosmetic Surgery procedures are effective on their own, but can often be combined with another to create an overall more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. During your consultation, your Cosmetic Surgeon will recommend the best procedure or combination of procedures to help create the desired effect.
