Americans favour treatments over procedures
27 February 2014A leading American Cosmetic Surgeon has announced that Americans are favouring Non-Invasive treatments, such as Botox and Fillers, over the more traditional Cosmetic Surgery procedures. Doctor Rod Rohrich, chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas explained: “Now you can use Fillers and Botox to reshape the face and delay having surgery for up to a decade or longer.”The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released the annual statistics report yesterday, which showed that both Non-Invasive treatments and Cosmetic Surgical procedures were up by three per cent last year, in comparison to 2012. The most popular Non-Invasive treatment of 2013 among Americans was Botox, with a total of 6.3 million. Dermal Fillers were next in line, totalling 2.2 million, up by 13 per cent. In terms of Cosmetic Surgery, Breast is best for American patients, with Breast Enlargement taking the number one spot. “There’s an increasing uptick in awareness about breast reconstruction”, explained Doctor Rohrich. He added: “People are becoming much more aware that breast reconstruction is truly an important part of a woman’s becoming whole again after breast cancer surgery. That is a very good thing.” Are you surprised that Non-Invasive treatments are becoming more popular? Send us a tweet to let us know.
