Articles highlight best foods for younger looking skin

A number of American news articles have appeared recently intended to highlight the best types of foods which can help achieve and maintain healthy skin. Among the most effective products in this respect are citrus fruits, such as oranges, lemons and limes, because the vitamin C they contain helps the body produce collagen, which helps skin keep its elasticity. The same fruits also contain bioflavinoids, which can afford valuable protection from the UV rays of the sun. Beta-carotene, which helps with cell regeneration, is found in sweet potatoes. It also helps prevent skin from dehydration. Tomatoes are a rich source of lycopene, which has a similar effect to bioflavinoids, so can be a particularly helpful addition to a diet in the summer. Finally, leafy green vegetables help ward off inflammation and wrinkles caused by exposure to the sun. All of these foods are endorsed by Dr Simon Ourian, medical director of a Beverly Hills clinic, who says: "Ideally, one should eat the foods that naturally contain these compounds as opposed to taking supplements."
