Cosmetic Surgeon says young people get puffy eyes too
29 July 2014You may associate puffy eyes with ageing skin but according to one Cosmetic Surgeon, you don’t have to be old to get them. Patients as young as 25 years old undergo Blepharoplasty surgery to correct puffy eyes and droopy eyelids, which are often the result of genetics. So what causes puffiness around eyes? Puffy eyes occur when there is an excess of fat in the lower eye lid, which causes it to protrude, giving it a baggy appearance. Unlike Blepharoplasty in older patients, 20-something year olds are unlikely to need to have any skin removed, meaning a Trans-Conjunctival Blepharoplasty is likely to be done instead. This involves incisions being made inside the eye, resulting in no visible scars post-procedure. Patients can expect to see some bruising around the eye which should go within a week and can easily be concealed with make-up. According to Florida-based Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr Carlos Wolf, “most patients find this to be a very satisfying long-term solution as it is unlikely that the puffiness will recur”.
