Everyone loves a movie featuring a superhero but Cosmetic Surgeons believe that the pressure put on actors to look capable of performing superhero feats could be influencing the rise in men undertaking Cosmetic Surgery.
Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Brent Moelleken said: “It used to be a man could get by with a pot belly and graying sideburns and look distinguished. But now that’s not enough – in order to make it in Hollywood, you have to be cut. That really mirrors what’s going on in society.”
According to the Cosmetic Surgeon, both male actors and men out of the limelight feel a continuous pressure to be at the top of their game – something which gets steadily harder with age. As a result, many men are now turning to Cosmetic Surgical procedures to help them become a better version of themselves.
Dr. Moelleken maintains however that patients need to always have realistic goals and expectations, commenting: “We can improve on what you have, but we can’t make you into Hugh Jackman if you’re not already close to Hugh Jackman to begin with”.
