âItâs a terrible lie that age 50 is like falling off a cliff!â Salma Hayek shares her pro-ageing beauty secrets
15 July 2015
Salma Hayek wasn’t always as comfortable with the idea of ageing as she is now; the beautiful actress admits she used to view turning 50 as a dark cloud on the horizon. “In the past, when I tried to imagine what I’d look like and what my life would be like at this stage, I was terrified.”
But as the significant birthday approaches, Salma’s opinion has changed, “I’ve realised I can still be beautiful and attractive as I approach 50. I feel very good about my life.”
The actress credits her body confidence to a sensible diet, regular yoga and a careful skin care routine. Rather than an intensive workout Salma favours restorative yoga, a gentle exercise that promotes mindfulness and relaxation.
“I work with a woman in London” the actress explains “(she) taught me how to hold my body in a way where the muscles are activated all day…you relax them and focus on the parts that need to be used, but never with tension. If you’re aware of your body, you’d be surprised by the effect it can have.”
Salma’s secret weapon in terms of skin care is a replenishing cream that’s actually intended for burn victims. “I use an ingredient called Tepezcohuite that’s used in Mexico for burn victims because it completely regenerates the skin.”
Combined with a portion controlled diet, the routine keeps Salma looking fantastic! With a figure (and face!) most women in their 20s would be envious of, the actress is testament to the fact that growing older doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom.
