Top 10 Beauty Trends of the Decade
9 July 2015
Forget less-is-more, think all-out glamour! According to a recent survey of almost 3,000 British women, heavy eyebrows, contoured skin and berry lips are the hottest beauty trends from the past decade.
The list showed the influence of celebrities like Cara Delevingne and the Kardashian sisters, as women opted for more exaggerated make-up styles, made popular by these famous faces. Heavy eyebrows topped the list, with 67% of women naming it as one of their favourite beauty trends. Brows were closely followed by contouring, which 63% of women mentioned in their responses, while the smoky eye and red lips also made the top five.
The full list was as follows:
- Heavy eyebrows
- Dark ‘berry’ lips
- Pin-up red lips
- Smokey eyes
- Winged eyeliner
- Glossy lips
- Nude lips
- Drawn on beauty spots
- A natural look
The results showed a definite shift away from ‘barely-there’ make-up, as women embrace more obvious make-up looks.
The survey also asked women how they’d learned to recreate their favourite make-up techniques – which are often the work of a professional make-up artist – to which 59% of women said they used online tutorials and 79% admitted it was a case of trial and error.
