Ear Reshaping Surgery

The shape, size or positioning of the ears can make a huge difference to whether a person has confidence in their appearance or not, and for many years people have been choosing to have Ear Reshaping surgery to increase their self-confidence.

What is Otoplasty?

Ear Reshaping surgery is also known as Otoplasty and is a surgical procedure that is carried out to reduce the size of the ears, reshape the ears, or reset protruding ears so that they sit closer to the head.

This very straightforward procedure can be carried out on both adults and children who feel their lives are being negatively affected by the appearance of their ears.

Benefits Of Having Ear Reshaping Surgery

  • Increased self-confidence and self esteem
  • Wider choice of hairstyles
  • Stop unfriendly comments

The Procedure For Ear Reshaping

Ear Reshaping (Otoplasty) surgery usually takes between two and three hours to complete while the patient is under a general Anesthesia. It is a straightforward procedure which involves the experienced surgeon making small and discreet surgical incisions behind the ears and within the ears to ensure that there is no visible scarring as a result of the procedure. Otoplasty is most commonly performed on those people whose ears are prominent and who therefore want them setting closer to the head, reducing in size, or both. However, it can be used as a way of simply altering the shape or size too and this is done by removing the skin, reshaping the cartilage underneath and stitching the ears before bandaging the area.
