OUR Expert Breast Surgeons in Manchester

Our expert breast augmentation consultants are well experienced in their specialties and are all GMC registered and live in the UK to ensure they are available when you need them.

Our Breast Augmentation surgeons in Manchester include:

Mr Simon Smith, Medical Director, The Harley Medical Group:

“First of all, all the surgeons we recruitment have to be on the GMC (General Medical Council) register for their chosen speciality. Secondly they must live in the UK. Historically, certainly some companies have had fly in fly out surgeons, and we want people to live in the UK, so they are available at all time for their patients.

We like to look at surgeons log books, so that we are assured that they are trained to do what they say they can do, and that they have experience and are an expert in that speciality. Also, one key thing in this is insurance, because cosmetics is not without its complications and surgeons must be adequately insured.

Optimal surgical outcomes for patients is absolutely at the heart of the company. From the Chief Executive downwards, everybody is interested to ensure that patients get the outcome they should be able to expect and we support that along the way.”

“The most popular surgical procedure breast related procedure is breast augmentation and after that there are other procedures including reductions and lifts (which are called mastopexy).

There are lots of things we have done to ensure patients having breast surgery have an optimal outcomes. First of all, several years ago we moved to using only Mentor Implants. Mentor are a subgroup of Johnson & Johnson. They have excellent data on the safety of their implants and they are FDA approved in the states.

There is huge support from Johnson & Johnson in terms of patient support, the guarantees that go with the implants, support for The Harley Medical Group as a company and the education for the staff and councillors in the clinic, to ensure everyone that everybody knows everything about the implants.

We use the Keller Funnel which is a very smooth delivery device, which lets you squeeze the implant out, a bit like icing out of an icing bag. It certainly gives you a smooth delivery and it sometimes lets you use a shorter incision to put the implant in and there is good data from the states to suggest might reduce capsular contracture rate when you put the implants in, which is one of the complications in the long term for implants. And because of that, although it is an extra cost, the company has decided if it does improve safety for our clients, we are very keen to use it.”
